My first meal in Japan courtesy of 7-11. It's a ham/egg/cucumber sandwich and it's pretty good. Some spicy shrimp chips and some dried squid. The Zima's were nice to wash it down as I didn't feel like a beer, or want the caffeine of a soda. I'm staying at the Tokiwa Hotel in Nippori. Not a bad place and they've got a computer downstairs in the lobby for free use. They've also got WiFi which is what brought me here. As I kick on the laptop I'm unable to surf and realize there's an issue with the router as I can't do a traceroute out to an IP address. I head downstairs and I'm wondering how to tell this guy that the router is funKy. He does speak some English and he realizes he needs to power cycle the router. (It appears he knows this issue arises from time to time.) I get on the Net now and I'm able to do some video conferencing with a friend back in the U.S. The throughput is pretty good and I eventually get some sleep, even though the walls are super thin. It's been 48 hours and I'm bushed. |
